Past happenings
2003:
- (4.12.2003) Stress. Annoying. Have to get a paper finished and
exams are breathing down my neck. Oh, well. Anyway, about the task I
started few days ago (currently task #4). I've gotten some
submissions, but you still have almost two weeks. Stuff concerning
things that have come into the game recently (in last few years) would
be much appreciated. That means stuff about guilds and races and so
forth. Keep 'em coming.
- (27.10.2003) Busy and bored. What a combination. I've taken over the maintenance few old areas lately (ie. fixing bugs, typos, quests to be resettable etc), not much else.
- (21.8.2003) Summer's almost over. Luckily. It's been busy, although quite fu as well. I'll have a brief vacation in a week or so, whee. Not much has been happening on my BatFront, apart from some maintenance of other people's areas. I started a blog there, maybe I even write some stuff in it. And maybe I can integrate it to these notes. Who knows.
- (6.7.2003) I started coding the area again. It may even open
before the summer is over, it's about half way done. I don't have too much
time to work on it, though, since I'm busy with coding another project for
school the whole summer. Hope it rains a lot.
In case you are wondering what the area like: It's an monastery for monks of
Beldarus, probably meant for midbies. I got the idea from
Umberto Eco's
The Name of the Rose.
I'm not sure if it has a real quest (if it will, it'll be an
area quest). It's not too big or anything, that's not the reason it's
going slowly. I'm just goddamn lazy.
- (7.6.2003) It's been quiet. No motivation lately. Only thing I've
done (that I can recall) in the past months was one area approve, oh
well.
- (25.4.2003) I probably should drop out in order to code. But I doubt
that I will. So everything proceeds slowly. Summer doesn't
bring any improvement as I'm studying then as well. Isn't my life
interesting?
- (22.3.2003) Oh well, idling mostly. Reason: busy with school.
- (27.1.2003) Back in Finland now. Too bad that I missed the UK-con,
but that was on the last day I was in Bath, and had tons of RL stuff
to do. Sigh. Come to think of it, I've had too much RL stuff to do for
quite a long time now. Maybe I'll stop trying to have a life soon
enough (not that it is much of a life, studying rather).
2002:
- (4.12.2002) Offline coding sucks. Therefore I haven't done a lot for Bat
during this fall. I'll be back home at the end of January, hopefully I can
catch the UK-con before that though. In the meantime, I think I'll go enjoy
a beer and contemplate if the universe is conscious or not.
- (3.10.2002) One more time. Now the pages are in their final home and
probably won't be moved anymore. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- (30.9.2002) The pages have moved again. They may move yet one more time,
but we will see. Nothing much else been happening, been busy in
surprisingly dry England, guess I should put this new laptop to good
use and learn to code offline since I don't have any other net access
than the one from the University.
- (18.9.2002) Oh well, the site has moved back, since the old new site
has stopped existing.
On the other news, I got some little silly things done during the couple
weeks that I've had net access but now the things probably quiet down
again, as I'm relocating to Bath, England until January. I've got
no idea if I can code from there or not, we'll see. The take off is in
two days, I'll be wiser next week.
- (6.7.2002) [The site was moved]
- (23.5.2002) Summer starting. Not too much to do, couple courses etc. I
may even get some Bat-stuff done. Probably a new area.
- (28.4.2002) Ok. The area is done. Report bugs and sort to me. The area
may seem a little strange if you haven't read the book that it is
based on, but it's a good book so I recommend reading it.
- (19.4.2002) Whew. Got a replacement computer up and running after ma
jor weirdness.I guess it's time to finish the area now.
- (17.4.2002) Huoh. I managed to fry my computer. And the funny part was that
my new area was almost done, ETA was this weekend. But not anymore.
Hope I get some new replacement box from somewhere. Fast.
- (10.4.2002) Finally got myself killed in HC-Bat, but now the new Nethack is out.
Those two things have been eating most of my spare time, but the area should be out
soonish anyway.
- (5.2.2002) And now they are in game, report any odd behaviour.
- (4.2.2002) Tweaking raceguilds, finally they are coming to game, cheers.
2001:
- (21.11.2001) Christmas etc. Going away for couple weeks, back in middle of
January. Amazon finally delivered a book I need for converting the
Natasha's Hagstate (what wouldn't I do for Bat). I hope to get it ready
soonish. Hopefully before February.
- (23.11.2001) All quiet. Well, I've got something done. Not much though. Good thing is that I got laid off recently, so I don't have to work anymore.
- (23.9.2001) Got ADSL set up and running, but haven't had time (or the images) to re-install Linux, so coding is slow. And then there's the school stuff. KuopioCon next weekend, whee.
- (2.9.2001) Namezero discontinued its services so bye bye goes the fancy domain name. And the idiotic popups as well, (whee!). I undertook converting an old area. In case you are wondering; it's Natasha's old carneval area. No ETA for that.
- (30.7.2001) Summer has been as I expected. Working and idling. Two more weeks of work, but first courses at the university start today. Hope I have time for both, and maybe even for Bat. Got mail from Namezero, they're going to cancel this domain in couple of months. I don't know if these pages will be around after it, maybe I'll acquire this domain name for myself someday, or maybe not.
- (7.6.2001) Summer. Work. And the sucky part is that I get enough of the net while I work. Way too much even, right now I'd rather blow up the whole system. So you guessed it: nothing done. I'll kick myself in the rear at somepoint and start coding though, no doubt about that.
- (11.5.2001) It's been slow. Stupid exams eating my time. And
soon it's summer and work. Maybe I get something done, maybe I wont.
Depression is getting a hold of me again.
- (23.4.2001) I asked to be banished for a while, I need a break, again.
- (19.4.2001) Back home. BoatCon was
fun. So was the mudding break, during
which I became an uncle (in the RL) and
Joey Ramone died
(also unfortunately in the RL).
- (9.4.2001) The slopes area is re-opened. Quest works again. Some equipment
from the area has been tuned because of the inconsistences in their bonuses.
- (8.4.2001) A short coding break, BoatCon and trip to visit my mom (no net
access). I'll be back home in a week or so.
- (5.4.2001) Runeaxe's area is under developement, actually it's basically
done. Just need to insert in some appropriate context. Might take awhile.
- (4.4.2001) I shut down part of the Slopes-area. The quest is currently
undoable. I hope to re-open it shortly.
- (22.3.2001) I inherited a new area from Runeaxe, should clean
it up and finish it quickly, if I have enough time...
- (13.3.2001) A small new area opened.
- (12.3.2001) Coding, slowly, but steadily. I moved old diary entries
away to make room for new ones.
- (28.2.2001) New task to do, seems that I'm back on track, ie. coding.
- (22.2.2001) I got a new sla.. err, pupil. Let's see how productive he is,
got some time to do stuff now too, we'll see.
- (6.2.2001) Whee, looks like I can get back to coding in a couple weeks.
- (18.1.2001) Sheesh, absolutely no time to code. Let's see in about six
weeks, grh.
- (15.1.2001) Back to school. Looks like my schedule is going to be pretty
crowded. Hope I've got enough time to squeeze the area up and running
ASAP.
- (13.1.2001) Finally got my ISDN up and running, seems to be working
smoothly. Probably spending the weekend in a quick coding spree, then it's
back to studies. Let's hope the spring is not too hectic. The new area
might even be finished shortly.
